Written by Info Nigeria

JIGAWA State Director, Primary Health Care, Aminu Danmallam has said that the maternal mortality rate index in the state which was initially very high had greatly improved due to the Safe Motherhood Initiative (SMI).
Danmallam who gave the indication in an interview with The Guardian said Partnerships for Transforming Health Systems (PATHS2) was doing a lot in improving the health sector in the State through the Safe Motherhood Initiative.
“The initiative has greatly improved the maternal mortality rate positively which was initially very high. Today, it has been reduced drastically because a lot have been put in place. Though this may not be ascertained until a maternal mortality survey is conducted, that will take place late this year or next year by the National Planning Commission and the Bureau for Budget and Statistics.”
