A flavorful twist on classic Sloppy Joes using salsa and cooked low and slow in a crock pot, resulting in a tender and delicious meal.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 cup salsa
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Hamburger buns, for serving
Instructions:
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned
Drain excess fat
Transfer the cooked beef to a slow cooker
Add chopped onion, green bell pepper, salsa, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, chili powder, salt, and pepper to the slow cooker
Stir to combine
Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours
Once done, taste and adjust seasoning if necessary
Serve the Sloppy Joe mixture on hamburger buns
